The AIRVIEW interview system comprises three main modules with a general guideline and specifically designed prompting functions for schools and students. It also includes a well-constructed evaluation form to assist interviewers to achieve a more thorough assessment of students. The whole interviewing process is promptly recorded with a video link sent to schools’ designated email addresses.
Components of Three Main Modules
Self-Introduction (around 1-2 minutes)
The self-introduction part generally lasts one to two minutes. The students will start this section after the interviewer’s request. The system will use several prompting words or phrases, including hometown, hobbies, singing, study, etc., to encourage the student to introduce himself/herself with more details.
-
Specific Questions from the school (around 5-10 minutes)
The interviewer may ask questions according to the materials prepared and uploaded to the system by the school or topics about the student he is interested in. The questions vary from reasons for applying to the school to personal goals. The system will present several prompts on the screen to facilitate the conversation.
-
Potential Questions from the student (around 3-6 minutes)
This is an optional section. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in this section and ask the interviewer questions related to the school study environment, school facility, extracurricular activities etc. The system will provide specific prompts – including possible questions – to help them gain a better understanding of the school.
Evaluation Report
After the interview, an evaluation form is available for the interviewer to evaluate the student with more accurate and systematic measurement. The evaluation form contains criteria that are essential to a student’s English-speaking ability and communication skills, including his/her pronunciation, flow, language use, content, etc. The interviewer’s input and reviews of the student in the form will directly yield an evaluation report sent to the school’s designated email address.
